Highlights

The Resurrection Plant

An ancient symbol of rebirth and transformation. Rose of Jericho appears dormant...curled, dry, seemingly lifeless. Then, touched with water and returns back to life.

Used for centuries across cultures for cleansing stagnant energy, inviting abundance, and blessing new beginnings. A living ritual for mind, body, and spirit.

Place her in a shallow bowl of water to awaken. Watch her transform, hour by hour, into a vibrant green rosette. Set an intention as she opens. Let her be a reminder that nothing is ever truly lost. Everything transmutes and transforms.

Sustainably hand harvested from the Chihuahuan Desert, where grown wild for generations. Each plant is gathered with care and respect for the land she calls home.

A practice for cleansing, intention, and renewal.

Rose of Jericho has been used across generations and cultures from Mexico to the Caribbean to the Middle East. A plant that symbolizes protection, purification, and abundance.

NEEDED:

  • Your Rose of Jericho
  • A clear glass or ceramic bowl
  • Room temperature water (spring or filtered water is best)
  • A quiet moment

RITUAL:

1. Cleanse the space
Before you begin, take a breath. Clear your space of clutter or distraction. Light your favourite candle. This is a moment for you.

2. Set your intention
As you fill the bowl with water, think of what you're inviting in or what you're ready to let go of. Some hold the Rose in their hands for a moment and speak the intention aloud, or simply hold it in their mind.

3. Place her in the water
Lower her gently into the bowl, curled side down. Watch as she begins to open. A slow, visible symbol of your own awakening.

4. Let her open fully
Over the next several hours, she will transform from a tightly closed ball into a vibrant, open rosette. Many like to sit with her during this time, journaling, meditating, or simply observing. A quiet practice of presence.

5. Keep her nearby
Once open, place her somewhere you'll see her often whether it be an altar, a windowsill, a bedside table. Some add a few drops of the water to their palms or wrists as a blessing. Others simply let her presence be the reminder.

6. Let her rest, then awaken her again
When you're ready to close this chapter, take a break from adding water and let her dry. She'll close back into dormancy. Not gone, just resting. Awaken her again whenever you're ready to begin a new intention, a new season, a new level of yourself.

Selaginella Lepidophylla

Add fresh water every 3-4 days to keep her open and thriving. Let the water evaporate to allow her to rest. She'll curl inward again, dormant, waiting for her next awakening. She can be resurrected indefinitely, again and again, a living alchemy for your space.

Rose of Jericho carries different meanings across the different cultures that have used her for generations. A tool for spiritual cleansing in some traditions, a symbol of the Virgin Mary and resurrection in others, and a household blessing for abundance and protection in many Latin American and Caribbean practices. We share this ritual with respect for those origins, and invite you to adapt it in whatever way feels natural to you.
